I am pleased to announce my candidacy for re-election to the Coronado Unified School District School Board in the 2026 election. I have enjoyed my last three years as a School Board Trustee and hope to continue to serve our Coronado community for an additional four years.
Our schools are a central and integral part of our Coronado community. It is an exciting time for our schools with the promise of financial stability when we reach Basic Aid in 2027 and the satisfaction of fully implementing our Portrait of a Graduate, the vision for our district created by our community. As a Trustee, I have watched our school programs grow, adding in more STEM opportunities and CTE pathways.
For the past three years, I brought a varied perspective to the Governing Board as a mom of three (now two) students in our schools, as a military spouse, attorney, and former educator. I spent time in our schools, reading to students, assisting in classrooms, and chaperoning field trips, to name a few. I also volunteered in our greater community, co-chairing the League of Wives Memorial Project and as co-chair of the Coronado Woman’s Club Flower Show committee.
I am particularly proud of the professional, collaborative environment our current Board has built. We have proven that leadership can be both effective and respectful, even when we disagree on specific policies, something that is hard to find in today’s polarized political climate. I have a tremendous working relationship with my fellow Trustees and look forward to continuing this tradition moving forward.
I look forward to another four years advocating for our students, staff, and parents and working with the Governing Board. Please reach out to me via email at alexia4office@gmail.com for more information.
