After largely staying out of the public eye following a 2012 stroke, Tim Curry will soon make a special in-person appearance in San Francisco.
Curry, who played Wadsworth the Butler in the 1985 cult classic “Clue,” is expected to join his co-star Lesley Ann Warren at the Curran Theatre on June 6 for a 40th anniversary screening of the film based on the board game of the same name.
The celebration comes just weeks after Curry turns 80 on April 19.
Since his stroke, the star of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1975) and “It” (1990), has used a wheelchair for mobility. He writes about his health issues and his long career in his memoir “Vagabond,” which was published in October.
Warren, 79, began her rise on Broadway in the 1960s before breaking into the public consciousness as a regular cast member on “Mission: Impossible” (1970-71), for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. Other than “Clue,” her best remembered film is for her hilarious supporting performance in Blake Edwards’ “Victor/Victoria” (1982).
“Celebrating this fabulous film on this very special 40th Anniversary is an absolute joy for me,” Warren said in a statement. “I adore my ‘Clue’ fans and look forward to seeing it together on the big screen. A riotous time for all! Let the party begin!”
The event, which will include a Q&A with the audience, is produced by the Stander Group, known for the “Rocky Horror Picture Show Spectacular Tour.”
“Clue” also stars Martin Mull (Colonel Mustard), Madeline Kahn (Mrs. White), Christopher Lloyd (Professor Plum), Michael McKean (Mr. Green) and Colleen Camp (Yvette, the French maid).
The film was released in December 1985 with three different endings. No word on which ending will be used during the event at the Curran.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 20.
