For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Corolla went over the painted center dividing lines, into the westbound lanes, directly into the path of the Prius, said CHP. The driver of the Corolla continued eastbound in the westbound lane until they crashed head-on.

CHP said both drivers died at the scene.

It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are factors in the crash. CHP is investigating.
