BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A woman who was riding an electric scooter is dead after being hit by a car in downtown Bakersfield, according to police.
The Bakersfield Police Department says officers responded to the crash on P St. and 4th St. around 12:02 a.m. on March 17th.
When they arrived, they found a woman in the road suffering from major injuries, and she was later pronounced dead.
The driver remained and cooperated with the police.
During a preliminary investigation, the woman was riding the scooter westbound in the north crosswalk of 4th St. when she was hit by the driver who was going north.
Driver impairment is not a factor in the crash.
