Cal Trans in cooperation with Cal Valley Construction has announced the construction for the Highway 190 Porterville Intersection Improvement Project will begin. The operation will begin Monday, October 27, weather permitting:
The intersection of Highway 190 and Westwood Street will be under construction to convert the intersection into a roundabout.
This phase of construction will consist of reversing traffic control, during which time Westwood Street north of Highway 190 won’t be accessible directly from the highway.
The access to/from Westwood Street north of Highway 190 will be closed starting Wednesday, October 29.
• Detours to utilize Highway 190, Highway 65, Road 192 and Avenue 152 around the closure location will be posted. Active construction hours are scheduled for Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
• This phase of construction is expected to last approximately 2 weeks.
Closures may continue for longer periods of time, if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur.
Caltrans wants to remind drivers to stay attentive and undistracted while driving and to be cognizant of workers and vehicles in Construction and Maintenance Areas and slow down while driving through Work Zones.
Caltrans would like to thank residents and commuters for their patience during this project and remember to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
