OAKLAND — A 33-year-old man died Tuesday morning after the car he was driving collided with another vehicle in East Oakland, authorities said.
He was identified by the coroner’s bureau as Ismael Merino-Osorio of Oakland.
The collision happened about 2:13 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 68th and Bancroft avenues.
According to initial police reports, Merino-Osorio was driving a Honda sedan northbound on 68th Avenue when it collided with a Cadillac CTS that was going eastbound on Bancroft Avenue.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Cadillac and his passenger were not injured and remained at the scene, police said.
Police said it is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
