LONG BEACH, Calif. — Long Beach State senior Ryan Gregory will represent the Beach this weekend at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships after winning the men’s heptathlon at the MPSF Indoor Championships in Reno with a school-record 5,827 points, surpassing the previous Long Beach State record while claiming the conference title.
The senior from Owatonna becomes the 25th Long Beach State athlete to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships and the first Beach competitor to reach the national indoor meet since 2022.
The 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held Friday and Saturday at Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, with the meet hosted by University of Arkansas. The national championship will feature 34 events and approximately 650 athletes from across the country.
Gregory’s heptathlon competition begins Friday at 9 a.m. PT (11 a.m. CT) and continues Saturday as he competes across seven events against the nation’s top multi-event athletes. The championships will be streamed live on ESPN+ both days.
