Burning Man‘s Burnal Equinox returns to San Francisco, offering a preview of Black Rock City months before the desert gathering.
Billed as the “midpoint between Burns,” the all-night event hosted at Public Works on Saturday, March 21, aims to channel the experimental spirit of the annual Nevada festival into an urban setting, with DJ sets and live performances spread across multiple spaces.
Organizers say the gathering is designed to recreate the collaborative, participatory culture of Burning Man, with dozens of artists and collectives presenting interactive installations. Attendees can expect a mix of sound camps, immersive installations and roaming performers.
In addition to the spectacle, Burnal Equinox also serves as a hub for community-building ahead of the official event, set for Aug. 30-Sept 7. From 7-9 p.m., the Flambé Lounge will host an art and culture salon featuring workshops and opportunities for newcomers and veterans alike to get involved in upcoming builds and camps.
A portion of the event’s proceeds will support local nonprofits, including with Burners Without Borders and Instituto Familiar de la Raza. Attendees are also encouraged to bring donations for these wellness programs.
