SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Utah Jazz look to build off their blazing hot start to the season as they take on the Sacramento Kings in the second game of the year.

The Jazz shocked not just local fans, but the entire NBA world, as they blew out the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. Sacramento lost its first game in Phoenix. The Friday matchup against Utah is the home opener.

Last season, the Kings swept the season series with the Jazz, winning all four matchups by an average of 20 points.

Utah’s defensive rotations were excellent on Wednesday. A little late there, and LaVine makes them pay from three. Will Hardy instantly calls a timeout.

— Chandler Holt (@CHoltSports) October 25, 2025

Will Hardy is very unhappy with the @utahjazz giving up a wide open three to Zach LaVine, leading to a quick TO with 8:38 left in the first.

WHAT A BLOCK BY KEYONTE. OH MY.

— Chandler Holt (@CHoltSports) October 25, 2025

Keyonte George has had a few shockingly good blocked shot highlights in his career.

Honestly, considering the rotation, that might be the best one.

Two quick ‘welcome to the NBA’ moments for Walt Clayton, courtesy of professional scorer Zach LaVine.

LaVine dribbled right past him for a layup, then threw his body into him for an and-one on back-to-back possessions.

Zach LaVine pump fakes to send Walt Clayton flying, and then buries the middy over Ace Bailey’s outstretched arms.

A clunky first quarter from the @UtahJazz bench, who gave up an early lead to the @SacramentoKings.

I think the Jazz got one in Walt Clayton Jr.

His pace and basketball IQ offensively are so good.

If the shot comes around like it did in college he’s going to be a major weapon.

— Ben Anderson (@BensHoops) October 25, 2025

The Jazz open the second quarter on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 31-31. Best thing Utah can do this year is stay in it through the highs and lows of 48 minutes.

— Chandler Holt (@CHoltSports) October 25, 2025

With eight minutes left in the first half, the @utahjazz trail the @SacramentoKings 36-33.

Jazz have eight first-half turnovers, which have disrupted their offensive flow. #TakeNote pic.twitter.com/MdqPjuDdAL

Keyonte’s activity in passing lanes and overall on defense has been great so far this year.

— Chandler Holt (@CHoltSports) October 25, 2025

His touch has been off since returning from the illness.

Needs to get some freebies at the charity stripe. https://t.co/xpjrGEq58H

— Ben Anderson (@BensHoops) October 25, 2025

Walker Kessler’s zero field goal attempts and five turnovers are a big reason the Jazz have struggled so far in the first half here.

Considering the turnovers (12) and shooting splits (38%/27%), trailing by three at halftime is pretty good. Utah’s defense through six quarters is much better than I think anyone expected it to be.

— Chandler Holt (@CHoltSports) October 25, 2025

The Jazz aren’t getting any easy offense, but a good defensive half has kept this game close.

Ideally, this is where Ace Bailey will be able to carry a large load for the team when he finds his sea legs, but he’s now 1-11 from the floor to start his career.
