A 68-year-old man was stabbed in San Diego’s Mountain View neighborhood Tuesday, and the suspect fled on an electric scooter, according to police.

SAN DIEGO — A 68-year-old man was stabbed by another man while walking to a convenience store in San Diego’s Mountain View neighborhood, and the suspect remained at large, authorities said Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a man suffering from a stab wound to the rib cage at 4300 Keeler Ave., near the intersection of 43rd Street, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Police said the suspect stabbed the victim at least once, then fled the area westbound on an electric scooter. He was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. His name has not yet been released.

The victim noticed the suspect earlier in a nearby alley, but no exchange was made at that time, the department noted.

The suspect was described as a Black man with a thin build, wearing a navy-blue Chargers jersey and a black face covering.

It was unclear what prompted the stabbing, but Southeastern Division Detectives were handling the investigation.

Authorities urged anyone with information related to the stabbing to call the SDPD or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
