BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 46-year-old man was arrested after police responded to community concerns of suspected narcotics sales in the Oleander area.

The Bakersfield Police Department said after receiving calls of concern from community members about suspected narcotics sales in the Oleander area, the Bakersfield Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, with California Highway Patrol officers assigned to the DEA Task Force, initiated a coordinated investigation over the course of several days.

Police said on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 12:10 a.m., 46-year-old Miguel Aguilar was arrested on multiple narcotics and firearm-related charges.

During this operation, BPD narcotics detectives and CHP officers allegedly saw Aguilar engaging in suspected narcotics transactions with multiple people in the Oleander area.

Aguilar was later contacted by BPD officers and found to be in possession of a loaded .380-caliber handgun.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Police said a search of Aguilar’s vehicle led to the discovery of one-half pound of fentanyl, one-half pound of methamphetamine, 3.5 ounces of heroin, and $1,780.
