On January 28, 2026, at approximately 9:37 AM, Officers responded to a report of a burglary that occurred at a business located in the 600 block of S. Winchester Boulevard. The preliminary investigation revealed that on January 27, 2026 at about 8:20 PM, an unidentified suspect entered the business and took an ATM machine from inside. The suspect was observed leaving the scene in a white van prior to police arrival.

On February 25, 2026, at approximately 7:21 AM, Community Service Officers responded to a report of a commercial burglary that occurred sometime between February 24th at about 2:30 PM to February 25th at about 5:45 AM, in the parking lot of a business located at 1700 block of Alum Rock Avenue. The suspect forced entry into a metal container that contained valuable construction tools. The suspect took several tools including generators and drills worth over an estimated 16,000 dollars. The suspect then fled the scene.

Just one week prior to the incident, the business had partnered with the San José Police Department’s Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) by installing a FususCORE device through the Connect San José Camera Core Rebate Program.

After being alerted to the burglary, RTIC analysts immediately accessed the video footage from the business through the FususCORE system. Analysts rapidly reviewed the surveillance footage and, within 24 hours, were able to identify suspect vehicles using SJPD Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology. Through this process, RTIC analysts successfully identified two of the three suspects involved in the commercial burglary.

The rapid access to privately owned surveillance cameras—made possible by the Camera Core Rebate Program—significantly accelerated the investigation. Further investigation by the San José Police Department’s RTIC and Burglary Unit linked one of the suspects to the commercial burglary that occurred in San José in early January. Detectives also discovered the suspect was being investigated by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office High Impact Team, and the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, for multiple organized retail theft cases.

Through coordinated collaboration between the San José Police Department, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office High Impact Team, and investigators from the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, an operational plan was developed.

On March 10, 2026, the suspect was located and taken into custody in the city of San José for three outstanding warrants. A residential search warrant was also executed and investigators recovered evidence related to the burglary.

This case highlights the critical role the Real Time Intelligence Center plays in modern investigations and demonstrates how partnerships with local businesses—through programs like the Connect San José Camera Core Rebate Program—allow investigators to access video evidence quickly, generate actionable leads, and hold offenders accountable.

The FususCORE program allows the San José Police Department’s RTIC to access participating businesses’ security cameras during emergencies, providing real-time information that can assist responding officers and investigators. Through a partnership with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, qualifying small businesses may receive a $450 rebate when purchasing a FususCORE device.
