A Carmichael man was arrested by the FBI and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on Tuesday after allegedly making threats against his wife and an Oklahoma judge who issued a protective order against him, jail records and court documents show.
Karl Czekai, 29, will make his first appearance Wednesday in Sacramento federal court where he will be charged with the interstate transmission of threats, a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday shows.
He is also accused of threatening his estranged wife who, according to court documents, fled to Oklahoma with their child to get away from him.
A judge in Oklahoma ordered him to stay away from his wife and to give up his guns. There are two arrest warrants out for him in Oklahoma for violating the order, and he is believed to still be in possession of the 13 guns registered in his name, the complaint said.
In her application for a protective order, Czekai’s wife said he had pointed guns at her and threatened to shoot her.
The affidavit details several social media posts that appear to threaten the judge in the case.
In one post, a male avatar is depicted pointing a gun at a female judge with dark hair and glasses, which the complaint said resembled the judge.
In another post, he allegedly wrote, “Hello judge (name redacted) of the Oklahoma City Courthouse. Remember me?” The post goes on to threaten the judge’s security and authority.
Another post states that he updated one of the images to better reflect the type of gun he would carry, the complaint says.
The case is being investigated by the FBI, the Midwest City Police Department of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office.
