Tips to save energy, stay cool during SoCal heat wave

As a widespread heat wave keeps its grip on Southern California, here are some tips to help you stay cool and save energy during the record-breaking temperatures.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power recommends setting your air conditioner to 78 degrees when you’re home. If you don’t have pets, turn it off when you leave.

Try to limit the use of major appliances like washing machines and dishwashers before 4 and 9 p.m.

When it’s cooler out, open your windows to clear out the heat. When it starts to warm up, close your curtains or blinds.

And if it’s still too hot, you can find some relief at a cooling center. Click here to find one near you.
