The San Jose Sharks return home for a two-game homestand, and head coach Ryan Warsofsky provided updates on the team’s injured players.

Starting with Ty Dellandrea, the Sharks forward has been out since January 6 with a lower-body injury. Warsofsky still deems the centerman week-to-week. Dellandrea participated in the morning skate with the team while wearing an orange non-contact jersey.

As for Yaroslav Askarov and Igor Chernyshov, the two San Jose Sharks players were able to skate on their own today. Askarov suffered a fluke lower-body injury before the game against the Boston Bruins last Thursday and is considered day-to-day.

Warsofsky hasn’t given an official timeline for Chernyshov’s return, but the fact that he is skating on his own this quickly after the injury is a very good sign.

Dellandrea is still week to week.

The Sharks are scheduled to skate on Friday before they face the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon. As for the potential for Askarov and Chernyshov to participate? Warsofsky is still unsure as he waits for an update on how their skate on Thursday went.

“Not sure yet. I haven’t got an update from today yet,” Warsofksy said. “[Chernyshov is] taking the right steps. He’s on the ice today, which is good.”

Chernyshov’s injury was scary as the Sharks winger appeared wobbly and visibly shaken after getting tangled up with Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson just 20 seconds into Saturday’s game.

Dellandrea, Askarov, and Chernyshov’s participation or lack thereof during Friday’s practice should provide a clearer timeline for their pending return to action.
