An immersive experience with hundreds of butterflies is opening on March 21 at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

Once a year, the Hidden Jungle aviary gets turned into the Butterfly Jungle, which will allow guests a 20-minute experience where they’ll be able to capture photos, be able to feed nectar to the butterflies, and discover the essential role they play in nature.

“When you enter Butterfly Jungle, you have these amazing experiences with butterflies from all over the world, but we want to connect you and inspire you to the work being done with our local species,” said Marco Wendt, a wildlife ambassador. “Drought, heavy rains that come in all of a sudden, these are effects that can really harm a lot of local ecosystems here in San Diego County, including our butterfly species.”

There will be more than 30 species of butterflies from all over the world.
