BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Unit will hold a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint on Friday, March 20, 2026, at an undisclosed location within the city limits from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Officers will be watching for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment and will also check drivers for proper licensing. Motorists are expected to be delayed only momentarily.
When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate drivers suspected of drug-impaired driving, including impairment related to illegal narcotics, prescription drugs, marijuana and some over-the-counter medications.
Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
