A continuing heat wave that has plagued Southern Californians for the last week broke records yet again on Thursday, March 19.

Temperatures are expected to make a noticeable drop of about 10 degrees over the weekend in parts of the Inland Empire and Los Angeles and Orange counties, but they’ll remain above normal for March, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists noted record-high temperatures Thursday across Los Angeles County, including in Burbank, Woodland Hills and Palmdale.

Burbank recorded a high of 99 degrees, tying the all-time record-high temperature for March recorded by the National Weather Service in 1966. The day was 10 degrees hotter than the previous hottest March 19 on record in 1997.

In Woodland Hills, a high of 102 degrees also set the record for the hottest temperature ever recorded in March, beating a record of 101 degrees set earlier this month. The previously hottest March 19 was recorded in 1997 at 96 degrees.

Palmdale recorded its hottest March 19 on record, with temperatures climbing to 91 degrees, one degree hotter than the previous record set in 1997.

Riverside saw its hottest March 19 on record, with highs reaching 101 degrees. The previous record was set in 1997 when highs reached 98 degrees.

Hitting a high of 94 degrees, Santa Ana also had its hottest March 19 on record, with the previous record set in 1997 with a high of 91 degrees.
