A former home to Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds has been designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument — not due to its celebrity imprint, but because of its architecture. East Hollywood
An eight-story building with 251 apartments is planned for the corner of Western and Fernwood avenues, according to an application to the city’s planning department. Twenty-one of the units would be set aside for very-low-income tenants. The large lot at 1350-1362 N. Western Ave. has been empty for about 10 years.
East Hollywood/East Los Angeles
The state has approved $251.8 million for supportive housing throughout California, including two projects on the Eastside. In East Los Angeles, $27 million is going toward a 59-unit development at 5010 E. 3rd St. — the PATH Villas. In the East Hollywood area, the city’s Housing Authority and Finding Hope, Inc. will get $9 million to buy a newly-built apartment building at 630 N.
