TEHACHAPI — An Oakland man has been charged with trafficking a teen girl he met online, in an investigation that started when authorities raided his state prison cell and confiscated a cellphone, according to court records.
Keynin McGee, 26, has been charged in federal court with trafficking a minor for commercial sex, which carries a maximum prison term of 10 years to life. The criminal complaint says that in 2023, prison investigators raided McGee’s Tehachapi State Prison cell and found a cellphone containing evidence he was attempting to traffic women while incarcerated for a human trafficking conviction.
That digital evidence is now being used to bolster a statement police obtained from a woman in 2025, who told authorities McGee trafficked her in the early 2020s, when she was 17, court records show.
The woman said that she has been a trafficking victim, with different exploiters, since age 15, and that she met McGee online. She first traveled to California from Texas in the early 2020s, was trafficked by someone she knew as “Bounce Out,” then got a bus ticket to Oakland from McGee, she told police, according to court records.
During their time together, the girl said McGee talked about wanting to “elevate” her but later sexually abused her, stating he wanted to test the “product,” the criminal complaint says. Authorities say they found text messages where McGee wishes her a “happy” time out on an open air sex market in Oakland. Later, after they parted ways, he allegedly threatened to shoot her if he noticed her in “San Jose or on that blade,” referring to a high-prostitution area, and added, “I’ma (sic) really kill you.”
McGee has been detained while the case is pending, court records show.
