The California Highway Patrol has released details on the arrest of a driver following a chase. CHP said officers tried to pull over a white Mitsubishi for a vehicle code violation around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.A chase began when the vehicle failed to yield and continued eastbound on Blanco Road toward Marina. CHP ended the pursuit when the vehicle reached Reservation Road toward Highway 68.The vehicle then crashed at the intersection of Reservation Road and Watkins Gate Road. The male driver ran from the scene, while the female passenger remained there, according to CHP.CHP arrived at the crash scene and set up a perimeter.Multiple units from other agencies responded to assist, along with CHP and Monterey County Sheriff’s Office K-9 teams.One of the K-9s found the suspect in dense brush along Watkins Gate Road, about halfway between Reservation Road and Barlot Canyon Road.He was taken into custody without incident.The man was identified as 28-year-old Daniel Ruiz Vargas of Soledad. CHP said he was booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of felony evading, felony DUI, felony hit-and-run and having felony warrants.CHP also said 26-year-old Kaitlin Marie Moss of Soledad was arrested for allegedly trying to cover for Vargas. She was also booked into Monterey County Jail, according to CHP.
