A fire broke out Friday morning at a metal scrap yard in the Central-Alameda area of Los Angeles, but no injuries were reported.
Crews responded at 11:23 a.m. to a large metals fire in the outside yard of a scrap facility at 4816 S. Long Beach Ave., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters poured water on the flames from a safe distance and called for additional resources, LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said.
A total of 53 firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze in 25 minutes, she said.
Nearby rail and vehicle traffic would be affected as crews coordinated with the property managers for overhaul of the burned material, according to Lantz.
