SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — The driver who plowed into and killed a family of four in San Francisco’s West Portal neighborhood two years ago has been sentenced to probation by a judge on Friday.

During her sentencing, Mary Fong Lau, now 80 years old, entered a plea of no contest and received a sentence of six days in jail plus two years probation and 200 hours of community service.

The jail sentence is the number of days she’s already served — there will be no additional time.

The 80-year-old driver who killed a family in San Francisco’s West Portal neighborhood is unlikely to face prison time, and the victims’ family is devastated.

Her license will be suspended for three years.

She was facing four counts of gross vehicular manslaughter for the 2024 crash.

Investigators say she was going 70 miles per hour at the time.

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins is frustrated that Lau was not required to enter a plea, and that she could one day drive again.
