LOS ANGELES, CA — Sheriff’s investigators have recovered several million dollars worth of stolen goods after warrants were served at locations In Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties as part of an investigation into organized crimes and cargo theft, authorities announced Friday.

Nine suspects were arrested as part of the investigation, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“Detectives seized approximately $7 million of stolen cargo freight and $1 million in U.S. currency,” according to an LASD statement. The department reported that 36 companies, including JB Hunt, Amazon, Sony, LG, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Costco, Wolff Shoes, Monster Energy and Disney, were affected by the thefts.

Among the stolen cargo freight recovered were Hisense televisions, LG microwaves, Cannon printers, Wolff shoes, Sony soundbars, Milwaukee tools, golf carts, ATVs, Disney clothing, LG appliances, Jelly Cat plush animals, Axil XCor Pro headphones, Black & Decker tools, Craftsman tools, Pentair pool equipment, Ring cameras, Style Craft hair clippers, Mastercool AC units, Monster Energy drinks, Classica Cordials Premium Liquor and cosmetics.

The suspects were booked on suspicion of grand theft of cargo, money laundering and receiving stolen property, officials said, adding that the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.

The sheriff’s Department formed the Organized Retail Crimes Task Force in September 2023 to combat just the kinds of thefts the suspects are accused of committing.
