“Mother,” a work-in-progress by Kalean Ung, will be performed on Saturday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at Indie Shakes Studio, 3191 Casitas Ave., Suite 130, Los Angeles,
Directed by Marina McClure, the play features Vyvy Nguyen as Mother, Shuko Akune as Crone, Olivia Xing as Maiden, Napoleon Tavale as Man, and Robert Almodovar as Old Man.
The playwright describes “Mother” as “a conversation about … three Cambodian women across generations, exploring what it means to think about becoming a mother, to be a mother, and also to inhabit a home both within yourself and outside of yourself.”
