The Castro Valley Trojans will venture away from home to square off against the Oakland Tech Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Castro Valley will be strutting in after a win while Oakland Tech will be coming in after a defeat.

Castro Valley was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn’t let that happen against West on Wednesday. The Trojans blew past the Wolfpack 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Andrew Mu?oz

Andrew Mu?oz looked comfortable as he didn’t allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Castro Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aidan Hackbarth, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Castro Valley is 3-1 when Hackbarth posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Ryan Autio was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Castro Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West struck out 11 times.

Meanwhile, Oakland Tech fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Arroyo on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dons by a score of 7-6. The Bulldogs’ defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Oakland Tech handed starting duties to Ben Weade, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Elijah Rucker made the most of his time in the batter’s box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he’s now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he’s played. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Godinez, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Oakland Tech suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 4-4. As for Castro Valley, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-5.

Both the two teams just can’t seem to miss. Castro Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. However, it’s not like Oakland Tech struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Castro Valley got the ‘W’ in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Oakland Tech by a conclusive 20-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won’t have the home-field advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
