FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Jack Fertig was a key cog in some of the best Fresno State men’s basketball teams in school history.

Serving as Director of Basketball Operations under Hall of Fame head coach Jerry Tarkanian, Fertig helped Bulldog basketball reach the NCAA Tournament twice and AP Top 25 numerous times between 1995 and 2002.

On Thursday, he sat down with Sports Director Ralph Wood and Gabe Camarillo to share his perspective on how the sport changed 24 years later, and what it means for Fresno State.

Earlier this week, the Bulldogs learned two of their players intend to enter the transfer portal — 6th man Jac Mani and All-Mountain West Honorable Mention freshman DeShawn Gory.

Second-year head coach Vance Walberg improved the season win total from 6 to 13, although Fresno State sputtered to the finish, losing 8 of its final 10 games.
