LOGAN, Utah – In the first of a four-match home stand, Utah State women’s tennis fell to No. 31 San Diego State, 4-0, on Friday at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.
Doubles
Facing a doubles lineup that featured the nation’s 50th-ranked doubles team at the top spot, the Aggies fought tough but ultimately fell on courts one and three as the Aztecs claimed the early lead for the match. Sophomore Natalie Paterova and freshman Sabina Pintea battled together at the second position, leaving their match unfinished trailing only 3-2 when the doubles point was clinched.
Singles
The Aggies continued to battle in singles play, though the Aztecs were able to claim the match with victories at the first, fifth and sixth positions. Pintea gave the Aggies their lone set of singles play at the No. 2 position, taking her first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (6), also being tied in her second set, 1-1, at the time the match was clinched for SDSU. Matches were left unfinished in the number No.2, No. 3, and No. 4 positions.
