TONIGHT SACRAMENTO DEALING WITH A RISE IN BUSINESS, BURGLARIES AND POLICE HAVE RELEASED THIS VIDEO OF THE ARREST OF A SUSPECT ACCUSED OF A TOTAL OF 11 BREAK-INS. THAT HAPPENED IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS. NOW, NINE OF THOSE BURGLARIES HAPPENED IN JUST THREE DAYS, AS POLICE ARE DEALING WITH A NUMBER OF THESE BURGLARY SPREES. WE ARE IN EAST SACRAMENTO, CURRENTLY NEAR GARDEN AT THE LINE AND THE MILL, WHICH WERE AMONG SOME OF THOSE FIRST BUSINESSES THAT HAD BEEN TARGETED IN THIS STRING OF BURGLARIES. THERE HAS BEEN AN INCREASE IN BURGLARIES THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF SACRAMENTO, SPECIFICALLY IN OUR SOUTH AND EAST AREAS. OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW DAYS, BURGLARIES OCCURRED AT NINE BUSINESSES IN THE CITY. AROUND A WEEK LATER, TWO MORE WERE TARGETED, BRINGING THIS STRING OF BURGLARIES TO 11 TOTAL. SO WE’RE EXPERIENCING AN EARLY SUMMER, AND AS THINGS HEAT UP SOMETIMES, SO DOES NIGHTTIME ACTIVITY. SO WE’VE HAD A RASH OF CRIMES OF CONVENIENCE. FOLKS THAT SAW, YOU KNOW, CASH REGISTERS UNATTENDED AND OTHER THINGS THROUGH THE WINDOW DESPITE TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM POLICE BODY CAM FOOTAGE SHOWS THE ARREST OF 23 YEAR OLD ARTHUR JASPER. SOUTH COMMAND WAS SAYING, HEY, WE HAD THESE BURGLARY SERIES THAT HAPPENED. WE WANT TO HAVE SOME ADDITIONAL OFFICERS OUT HERE LOOKING FOR THE SUSPECT, AND THAT’S AND IT WAS FRUITFUL. IT WORKED. THEY HAD THE OFFICERS OUT THERE. THEY LOCATED THE SUSPECT. HE MATCHED THE DESCRIPTION. THEY DID A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION. THEY INTERVIEWED HIM, AND THEN THEY DEVELOPED PROBABLE CAUSE TO ARREST HIM FOR BURGLARIES. SACRAMENTO POLICE SAY HE WAS ARRESTED ON MARCH 14TH IN THIS AREA OF 41ST AND J STREET. YOU MENTIONED THAT THIS HAS PROVEN AN INCREASE IN BURGLARIES IN THE CITY OF SACRAMENTO. WHAT IS YOUR DEPARTMENT DOING TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS DOESN’T CONTINUE? YEAH. SO WITH THE INCREASE IN BURGLARIES THAT WE’VE HAD OVER THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS OR MONTHS IN OUR CITY, OUR DEPARTMENT HAS KIND OF TAKEN AN APPROACH SIMILAR TO THIS ONE RIGHT HERE, RIGHT? They did a thorough investigation. They interviewed them, and then they developed probable cause. Arrested him for 11 burglaries,” Gamble said.Sacramento police said Jasper was arrested on March 14 in the area of 41st and J Street.
