A Metrolink train struck and killed a person Friday evening in a non-pedestrian area of the railway in Northridge, authorities said.
Authorities responded to the incident in the 17200 block of Chase Street, north of Roscoe Boulevard, around 7:25 p.m., after receiving reports of a person being struck by a train, according to the Los Ángeles Fire Department.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rail service through the area was halted, and the tracks were closed until further notice following the collision.
Additional details about the person struck were not immediately available. Officials did not say how the individual ended up on the tracks.
Authorities were continuing to investigate the incident.
