INGLEWOOD – A well-known Inglewood street vendor is facing murder charges in connection to a Jan. 21 shooting in South Los Angeles.

Richard Campbell is known for selling kettle corn and popcorn at the intersection of Van Ness Ave. and Manchester Blvd.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has charged him with killing 54-year-old Rene Turcios.

According to videographers at the scene, the deadly shooting occurred at 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of 74th Street and Van Ness. The shooting took place blocks from where Campbell operates his business.

Turcios was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the back, however, the Los Angeles County Medical-Examiner’s office attributed his death to “multiple gunshot wounds”.

According to witnesses, Turcios collapsed on the curb and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Turcios was a construction worker who was working in the area with several other people who witnessed the shooting.

Campbell was taken into custody the following day by Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Division and is being held on $3 million bail.
