The Calgary Wranglers continue their four game week, kicking off a three game road trip in California on Saturday night. They dropped their previous two games this week against the Henderson Silver Knights this week and are at a point in their season where playoffs are getting really close to being mathematically impossible. They still have contracts to play for and impressions to make and of those impressions is a bounce back needed from an 8-3 loss on Thursday.  Both of Calgary’s upcoming weekend opponents faced each other on Friday night. The Condors and Gulls faced off at 8:00 p.m. MT and the Gulls took the win by a 7-4 score. Last game’s lines

Game at a glanceThe team announced on Friday that they recalled Chase Pauls from the Rapid City Rush. Pauls is a right shot defenceman who has not yet made an appearance with the Wranglers. He was loaned to the Henderson Silver Knights last season for two games and those remain his only two games in the league. He’s been mostly in the ECHL and has 20 points consisting of three goals and 17 assists this season with the Rush. It’s unclear at this point who exactly is out of the lineup to cause a recall on the blue line so these games this weekend should provide further context into a potential injury. The Wranglers still await the return of Rory Kerins to the lineup and need some of their top guys to get going right now. The hottest Wrangler currently is Martin Frk. Frk has nine points in his last six games, with five goals in the last series against the Henderson Silver Knights. A couple of Calgary’s historically high performers that could benefit from getting going on this road trip are William Stromgren and Sam Morton. Both have only had one game in the last seven they’ve been on the scoresheet and they are part of the playmaking depth the team looks to when others are out of the lineup. In addition to that, they’re both names that would want to be in the conversation to get another look with the Flames.

This is just a one game stop in Bakersfield and puck drop goes at 8:00 p.m. MT. Streaming options are available for a fee on Flo Hockey, or you can follow along with the radio broadcast on the Fan960. FlamesNation contributors Ryan Pike and I will have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
