Taryn Irimata allowed one hit over five scoreless innings of relief and the Hawaii softball team scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to defeat Long Beach State 3-2 on Saturday in Long Beach, Calif.
Irimata walked one and struck out two.
The Rainbow Wahine tied it at 2-2 in the sixth when Carys Murakami scored on Maycen Gibbs’ single and a throwing error. Jamie McGaughey followed with a sacrifice fly.
UH’s Amelia Fidge tied it at 1-1 with a homer in the second.
Hawaii improved to 13-14 and 5-4 Big West; Long Beach State dropped to 18-11 and 6-3.
Hawaii’s next series will be against Cal State Northridge on Friday and Saturday (doubleheader) at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Hilo’s Santos tosses nine-inning no-hitter
Janessa Santos threw a nine-inning no-hitter as the Hawaii Hilo softball team beat Vanguard 1-0 in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday in Costa Mesa, Cailf.
Santos walked two and struck out six. She faced 30 batters with another runner reaching on an error in the second inning.
Santos, a sophomore from Moreno Valley, Calif., improved to 9-1 and lowered her ERA to 1.77.
The Vulcans scored in the top of the ninth on Mariah Antoque’s two-out single, which scored Rayna White.
White batted 4-for-5 and Antoque went 3-for-5 for Hilo, which had 12 hits and stranded 14 runners.
The Vulcans won the first game 6-4.
