BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — For the first time since last Monday 90s are NOT in the forecast for the South Valley on Sunday! The super-duper and unusually strong (for winter) heat dome high will finally move on along. It’s itinerary into Sonora Mexico means a weakening of the intense heat grip across our region.

The timing is helpful as the Bakersfield Marathon occurs during this slightly cooler scenario.

Runners and spectators will still need to practice heat safety with plenty of sunshine and very warm afternoon temperatures expected but it’s an improvement from the low to mid 90s of just about every day since Tuesday.

The heat could still hold onto the desert communities where a 90+ degree reading continues to be in the forecast.

Have a great day!
