A driver crashed into a Baldwin Park restaurant early Sunday morning, causing extensive damage to the building.
The crash happened around 1:43 a.m. at Nissi #2 Restaurant Bakery & Cafe, located at 4021 Maine Ave., directly across the street from the Baldwin Park Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicle inside the front of the building. It was not immediately clear whether the driver stayed at the scene or was taken to a hospital before police arrived, according to news video service KNN.
Because of the structural damage, police requested Building and Safety to evaluate the restaurant. Officers also found beer cans inside the vehicle, and investigators are looking into whether speed or alcohol contributed to the crash.
The restaurant was closed at the time of the collision and no one inside was hurt.
