El Sereno—Two people were injured in a fire this morning at a two-story apartment building in El Sereno, authorities said.
Firefighters dispatched at 4:18 a.m. to the 4100 block of East Abner Street, a couple blocks south of Ascot Hills Park, had the fire out within 34 minutes, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported. The fire involved two units and the attic space.

Paramedics at the scene transported a 34-year-old man and a 71-year- old woman to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
“LAFD arson and multiple fire companies remain on scene for cause investigation and overhaul of the structure,” the LAFD’s Lyndsey Lantz said. “Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes.”
No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
