A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty in federal court for bringing two minors to New Mexico from California to engage in sex acts for money,with the help of a 22-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to concealing the crimes, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of New Mexico.Roderick Norseweather Jr., a California resident with ties to New Mexico, recruited the minors and brought them to New Mexico. He bought them cellphones and made them to use an app that allowed him to monitor their locations and track their sexual activity, court documents said.In December 2024, Norseweather bought Amtrak tickets from California for the two minors and Tajahne Johnson to go toNew Mexico to have sex for money. Johnson knew of the plan and took part in commercial sex with the minors in Albuquerque.Norseweather directed the minors with text messages and Instagram, posted commercial sex advertisements using their pictures, and arranged meetings with buyers, then traveled to Albuquerque to collect more than $3,000 obtained by the illegal acts orchestrated by him. On Jan. 3, 2024, Albuquerque Police made contact with Johnson, who lied to them about the minors’ relationship with Norseweather in order to conceal his involvement the documents said.Norseweather pleaded guilty to misprision of child sex trafficking and two counts of intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. He will remain in custody pending sentencing and faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum life sentence.
