The Paly Vikings are continuing their largely successful season with a win against South San Francisco on Friday, March 13th.
This win marks Paly’s fifth win over the course of six games, which can be attributed to a number of factors, including the teams energy, and their exciting new freshman pitcher, Samantha Prabhu.
According to junior Laila Joshi, Prabhu was one of the key factors in their success.
“Other teams have a very hard time figuring out her pitches,” Joshi said. “She strikes them out a lot.”
Alongside their pitchers performance, Joshi attributes their team’s support of each other as a key winning factor throughout the game.
“Our team has a lot of energy and you can feel their support,” Joshi said. “I got a good hit and everyone in the dugout was so excited and cheering me on.”
Looking forward, the team still has room to improve, especially when it comes to mindset.
“We have started talking about team goals and things we can have in mind for each game,” Joshi said. “I think having these goals will help us focus on our game, rather than trying to play to the other team’s level.”
One of their main focuses is how to combat different pitchers on the field.
“We are working on different pitching speeds now,” Joshi said. “because the teams we have been facing have very different pitchers.”
Overall, the team had a impressive victory and looks forward to their next game against Monte Vista, March 17th.
