Los Angeles police detained a person after a woman was found shot inside a Beverly Grove residence Sunday morning, authorities said.
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers responded to the home along La Peer around 8:45 a.m. to a report of shots fired at the location.
When officers entered the residence, they found a woman in her 40s suffering from a gunshot wound.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died, according to the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD).
Police detained a person in their 30s at the scene as part of the investigation. The relationship between the suspect and the victim is unknown.
Around 2 p.m., police were seen examining the trunk area of a black Lamborghini SUV parked in the driveway of the home.
LAPD detectives were seen removing what appeared to be a black rifle case from the vehicle before photographing what appeared to be a second black case that had an evidence marker placed on it.
Police confirmed to NBC4 that a dog was also shot and killed in the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
