SAN FRANCISCO — A residential block in San Francisco’s Mission District was evacuated on Sunday afternoon after a suspicious device was found, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
Residents in the 3100 block of 22nd Street were evacuated as a precaution after police officers deemed the unknown device a potential risk, according to police department spokesperson Officer Robert Rueca.

San Francisco police officers were called to the scene at 1:36 p.m. after the device was reported.
The public was asked to avoid the area in an SF Alert message about 30 minutes later.
Emergency crews including an explosive ordnance disposal team and San Francisco firefighters were on the scene as of about 3:20 p.m. to try to determine how to safely remove the object. The public should continue to avoid the area on Sunday afternoon, Rueca said.
Around 3:40 p.m., SFPD spokesperson Officer Robert Rueca said the device was deemed safe.
