SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Drexel golf team finished its first round of the UC San Diego Invitational in sixth place after Kevin Lydon finished the first 18 holes shooting 3-under par 69 on the par 72 7,258-yard Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, Calif. The three-round invitational, hosted by UC San Diego, featured five of the 17 teams who finished under-par. Drexel checked in with one-over-par, the first team over-par on the leader board.

Lydon’s front nine featured a trio of birdies, with just one bogey. On the back half of the round, Lydon carded a relatively clean round, featuring two birdies and one bogey. John Keba turned in an even-par 72 after shooting 1-under par 35 in the front half. After 18 holes, Keba placed 17 in the 104-player field. Caleb Taylor finished round one shooting 1-over-par 73.

Loyola Marymount is leading the field, shooting 9-under-par after the first round. The Dragons return to Torrey Pines for the second round of play on Monday, March 23.
