Homicide investigation

A man and woman were found dead Friday night in a suspected murder-suicide at a home in Arden Arcade, Sacramento County sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies responded about 9:30 p.m. to the 2600 block of Edison Avenue, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.

“Deputies arrived on scene, breached the door, and found an unresponsive adult female and adult male,” sheriff’s officials said. “Unfortunately, both subjects were pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Three children who lived in the residence were found unharmed, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident began with a 911 call by one of the three children “saying her dad was assaulting her mom,” Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Ed Igoe said. All three children fled the home and hid nearby, he said.

Arriving deputies saw the woman through a window before breaching the door, Igoe said. They found the woman and a man inside, both unresponsive, and fire personnel pronounced them dead at the scene, he said.

The man and woman were the parents of the three children, Igoe confirmed Saturday morning.

The incident was being investigated as a suspected murder-suicide, and no outstanding suspects were being sought, Igoe said. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators continued processing the scene early Saturday, he said.

The identities of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after next of kin are notified.
