Starting Monday, March 30, the second phase of resurfacing project will begin in Novi and Northville.
The Oakland County road commission will close northbound Novi Road, from 8 Mile Road to 9 Mile Road for the $6.9 million project.
The northbound traffic detour will be 8 Mile Road to Beck Road to 10 Mile Road, back to Novi Road. During this phase, the road will remain open to southbound traffic. The project will be completed in late summer.
The project includes:
• Adding a continuous center left-turn lane throughout this section of Novi Road.
• Adding two northbound lanes and one southbound lane from the Rouge River/Allen Drive to 9 Mile Road.
• Installing High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk beacons for pedestrians just north of Galway Street.
This section of Novi Road carries approximately 13,700 vehicles daily. The project is expected to be completed in late summer.
