An Oakland County judge recently increased bond 400% for a Hazel Park felon accused of attacking a Royal Oak man with a hatchet.
Robert Narducci, 51, is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder for the reported Jan. 29 incident at his Hazel Park home that severely injured a 31-year-old man. He had been out of custody after posting a $10,000 surety bond, but he’s since been booked into the Oakland County Jail and must now come up with a total of $50,000 to be released for that charge. His jail record also shows a $20,000 bond for probation violation.
On March 17, Judge Yasmine Poles upped the bond set at Narducci’s Jan. 30 district court arraignment on the assault charge; the prosecution had asked for bond to be revoked but was denied. Narducci was booked into the Oakland County Jail that afternoon.

At the time of his arrest, Narducci was on probation after being convicted of assault with intent to do great bodily harm which occurred in Hazel Park in 2023. In 2024, he pleaded no contest and was sentenced to four days in jail — time served — and three years probation. He also has convictions for drug-related crimes from the 1990s.
Narducci’s file in Oakland County Circuit Court shows that if he’s convicted of the latest charge, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office will seek an enhanced sentence of a minimum 25 years in prison rather than the typical 10-year sentence or $5,000 fine for the crime, citing his status as a four-time habitual offender.
As previously reported, Hazel Park Police Chief William Hamel said his department learned of the hatchet attack when a local hospital called on Jan. 29 to report that the victim showed up at the emergency department with serious injuries to his hand and mouth. The victim subsequently told police that he and two friends had gone to the Hazel Park home to pick up another friend, and he was confronted by Narducci over a past issue with one of Narducci’s family members.
Narducci then reportedly grabbed a hatchet hanging on the wall and began swinging it at the victim; the victim sustained severe cuts to his hand as he tried to protect his head, then fled the home with one of his friends. Narducci reportedly chased after him and reportedly struck him in the face with the butt of the hatchet, Hamel said. The victim was then driven to the hospital.
Police later carried out a search warrant at Narducci’s home and arrested him. Hamel said the hatchet and blood evidence were recovered from the scene.
Narducci’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 31.
