SAN JOSE — A man surrendered to police shortly after he shot his wife to death at their South San Jose apartment Friday evening, authorities said.
Police officers were dispatched around 6 p.m. to an apartment on Don Seville Court — off Velasco Drive near where Blossom Hill Road meets Highway 85 — after getting multiple reports of a shooting, according to the San Jose Police Department. While they were headed to the scene, the officers were informed that a man shot his wife inside their home.
The officers encountered the alleged gunman as he was leaving the apartment, and he surrendered, police said. Officers then searched the home and found a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound; she was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Her name was not publicly released pending her formal identification and notification of her next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office. As of Monday, SJPD had not released the identity of the suspect — who was reportedly booked into the county Main Jail — with the department saying only that the public identification will occur “at a later date.”
There was no immediate indication from police that the suspect and victim were the subjects of any domestic violence calls prior to Friday’s shooting.
The shooting marked the seventh homicide of the year investigated by San Jose police; the department had investigated four homicides by this time in 2025.
