A 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with an attempted sexual assault on the beach in Santa Monica, police said Monday.
The victim was sleeping on the beach when someone attempted to sexually assault her, police said. The victim reported the case to police, who made an arrest later that morning.
Police identified the suspect as Taiwan Solomon. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, attempted sodomy and assault with intent to commit rape.
Details about what led to the arrest were not immediately available. Police said additional information will be released when it is available.
The victim was provided with medical attention and support services, police said.
An initial court date was scheduled for Tuesday.
