PEORIA, Ariz. — The Padres beat the Mariners 10-3 in the spring training finale at Peoria Stadium.

Batter’s box: Sung-Mun Song struck out and walked in his first game since March 5. The utility infielder will begin the season on the injured list with an oblique strain. … Freddy Fermin singled in his only at-bat and finished the spring 15-for-38 (.395). … Xander Bogaerts doubled and finished 8-for-28 (.286) in the Cactus League. He was 5-for-15 for the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic. … Manny Machado was 0-for-2 Thursday and finished Cactus League play with a .111 average (2-for-18). Machado was 6-for-20 for the Dominican Republic in the WBC. … Fernando Tatis Jr. was 0-for-1 and was hit by a pitch. He hit .222 (4-for-18) with a .440 on-base percentage in Cactus League play. He was 8-for-20 with two home runs for the D.R. in the WBC. … Jase Bowen, who was assigned to minor-league camp on Sunday, led the Padres with 16 hits this spring. … Romeo Sanabria, a first baseman who spent last season in Double-A, hit a grand slam in the eighth inning. It was his third homer of the spring.

Balls and strikes: Germán Márquez, the Padres’ fifth starter, closed out spring by allowing one run over 4⅔ innings. He threw 81 pitches. … Kyle Hart pitched the first inning and allowed his first earned run of the spring (14 innings). The left-hander is expected to serve as the Padres’ “bridge” reliever at the start of the season. … Reliever Jason Adam got through a 1-2-3 inning in nine pitches in his second Cactus League appearance. Adam will begin the season on the injured list out of an abundance of caution as he returns from last season’s quad tendon surgery. … Bradgley Rodriguez, the hard-throwing young right-hander, allowed just his second run in 10⅔ innings this spring. Rodriguez, who struck out 13 and walked six in Cactus League play, will likely begin the season on the roster after finishing with the team last year.

Extra bases: Most of the Padres regulars started and got two plate appearances. … Ty France, who has started one game at second base over the four seasons and will serve as the Padres’ backup there at the start of the season, mishandled a grounder there. … The Padres finished the spring 15-15-1.
