A new dance music-dedicated online radio station has opened within a former photo kiosk in San Francisco, named program.audio.

program.audio comes from local DJs sfcowboy and erika, who established their club night series and record label of the same name in 2023 as a way to connect San Francisco’s dance music community.

The new station opened on Saturday, March 21, for the very first time inside a “59-year-old space” on Haight Street, the “last” drive-through Fotomat kiosk for film development.

As well as playing host to online mixes, program.audio will act as a space for its community to come together – a “third space for local and international artists”.

“While we had to put the club project on pause due to permitting and structural issues out of our control, here’s what we’ve been working on in the meantime,” the pair revealed on Instagram just a day ahead of its launch.

“With so few artist-owned spaces left in SF, and a growing trend of local government and corporate entities partnering to profit off dance music and its aesthetics without meaningfully investing in the existing community, we believe a space like this is essential to protecting and uplifting the scene here.”

Streams will be hosted online via program.audio’s website, though a schedule has yet to be announced. More details are expected to land this week.

“This is only possible because of your continued support and belief in us,” the team behind the station continued. “We’re excited for what the future has in store.”
