The San Francisco 49ers have already made one big move at the wide receiver position this offseason. Mike Evans was signed to a lucrative three-year, $60.4 million contract.

Adding Evans will provide star quarterback Brock Purdy with a much-needed No. 1 target. With both Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings expected to leave town this offseason, the addition of Evans might not be the end of the team’s wide receiver moves.

Currently, the 49ers have Ricky Pearsall and Christian Kirk as the next best options behind Evans. Both players are capable of playing a role, but San Francisco could consider adding another playmaker for Purdy.

Keeping that in mind, a new report has shared one player the 49ers are showing interest in to upgrade the wide receiver position even more.

San Francisco 49ers Showing Interest in Playmaking Wide Receiver

According to a report from ESPN’s Field Yates, San Francisco is hosting Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston for a top-30 visit on Tuesday.

“Former Washington WR Denzel Boston is visiting the 49ers today on one of his predraft 30 visits,” Yates wrote on X. “San Francisco owns pick 27 and WR is still a need for their roster.”

He also shared a video along with his report showing off some of what Boston brings to the field.

Boston has been rising up draft boards throughout the pre-draft process. He seems very likely to be a first-round pick. Should he slip out of the first round, he would be an early second-round selection.

If the 49ers want to make another sizable addition at wide receiver, Boston would be one of the best options in the 2026 NFL Draft class.

What Would Denzel Boston Bring to the 49ers’ Offense?

Last season with the Huskies, Boston racked up 62 receptions for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns. Back in 2024, he caught 63 passes for 834 yards and nine scores.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Boston to current Los Angeles Rams star wideout Puka Nacua. That comparison alone shows a glimpse at the kind of player Boston could become.

Standing in at 6-foot-4 and just under 210 pounds, Boston has great size for an NFL wide receiver. He couples that with great route running and ball tracking, as well as elite hand strength.

There are some areas he needs to improve. A few of those areas are separation, physicality, and finding ways to beat top-tier opponents.

All of that being said, Boston is a wide receiver who will have a shot at making an immediate impact. The 49ers could use another impact wide receiver and could very well consider taking him at No. 27 overall in the 2026 draft.
