Evangeline’s announced it’ll have a grand opening for a refreshed costume mansion on June 27 and 28. Ownership has not yet set a reopening date for the first-floor gift shop, which will be announced at a future time.

“We truly appreciate everyone who reached out with kind wishes, encouragement, and generous offers to help during the reconstruction,” owner Deborah Chausse said in a statement. “Your support has meant the world to us.”

A fire on June 17, 2025 caused extensive damage to the historic Old Sacramento building. Most of the damage came to the first-floor gift shop and no one was injured in the fire.

Chausse said the costume mansion on the second and third floors were spared.

The building that houses Evangeline’s Costume Mansion, also known as the Lady Adams Building, is considered to be the oldest building in Old Sacramento.Â
